El Pabellón de Chile.

Este edificio es la actual Escuela de Artes Aplicadas de Sevilla.
Sin embargo su origen tuvo otras causas. En 1929 se celebró en Sevilla una Exposición Iberoamericana donde participaron, entre otros, los países americanos que tienen una historia común con España, entre ellos Chile.
Este edificio fue el Pabellón de Chile y su diseñador fue el arquitecto Martínez Gutiérrez.
Según Martínez Gutiérrez, entonces profesor de Construcción Decorativa en la Universidad de Santiago, “el conjunto encuadrado en los jardines interpretará el espíritu chileno, sin recurrir para ello a motivos coloniales, sino a agrupaciones de volúmenes y trozos de escultura y pintura capaces de sugerir el ambiente de un pueblo y de hacernos adivinar su cultura. Expresar los plácidos remansos de las costas chilenas y la orografía titánica de los Andes, componiendo de forma casi escultórica las masas grises y blancas, que van ascendiendo hasta culminar en la fuerte torre...”.
Para mi gusto es uno de los pabellones más bonitos de toda la exposición.

This building is the current School of Applied Arts of Seville.
Nevertheless its origin had other reasons. In 1929 a Latin-American Exhibition was celebrated in Seville where informed, between others, the American countries that have a common history with Spain, between them, Chile.
This building was the Pavilion of Chile and the designer was the architect Martínez Gutiérrez.
According to Martínez Gutiérrez, teacher at that time of Decorative Construction in the University of Santiago, "the set fitted in the gardens will interpret the Chilean spirit, without resorting for it to colonial motives, but to groups of volumes and chunks of sculpture and painting capable of suggesting the environment of a people and of making ourselves guess the culture. To express the placid backwaters of the Chilean coasts and the titanic orography of the Andes, composing of almost sculptural form the gray and white masses, which are ascending up to culminating in the strong tower ... ".
For my taste, it is one of the nicest pavilions of the whole exhibition.
