Et apertis thesaurus suis...

En la Calle Hernando Colón (número 16) esquina con Florentín, en una mirada hacia el cielo, podemos encontrarnos con este azulejo enmarcado. Si nos fijamos bien, en él podemos distinguir la escena de la Adoración de los Reyes Magos a Jesús recién nacido.
El texto que lo acompaña así nos los refrenda. Aunque está en latín, "Et apertis thesaurus suis obtulerunt ei munera, aurum, thus et myrrham (Mateos 2,11)", tiene una traducción libre como ésta: "y, postrándose, le adoraron; abrieron luego sus cofres y le ofrecieron dones de oro, incienso y mirra".
El retablo cerámico es obra del ceramista e historiador José Gestoso y fue mandada colocar allí a finales del siglo XIX por el dueño del edificio como regalo a su esposa por el reciente nacimiento de una hija.

In Hernando Colón Street square to Florentín Street, we can have a look at the top of the building and we meet this framed ceramic. We can distinguish the scene of the Adoration of the Magi to Jesus newborn child.
The text that accompanies this way countersigns us. Though it is in Latin language, "Et apertis thesaurus suis obtulerunt ei munera, aurum, thus et myrrham (Mathews 2,11)", it takes a free translation like this one: " and, prostrating itself, they adored him; they opened then his chests and offered him gifts of gold, incense and myrrh ".

¿Cargados de regalos?

Pasado el día de Navidad en la que recordamos el nacimiento de Jesús, la próxima cita es con los Reyes Magos, el momento en que los reyes de oriente encuentran a Jesús guiados por una estrella.
A él le presentan sus regalos: oro como rey, incienso como dios y mirra como hombre.
Actualmente el aspecto comercial prevalece sobre el religioso y la cita con el día de los Reyes Magos se ha convertido en una pura carrera entre padres e hijos, hermanos o amigos por hacer un regalo.
Por eso la pregunta del titular del post, estos Reyes Magos, ¿necesitan ir cargados de regalos?.

After the Christmas Day when we remember the Jesus´s birth, the next appointment it is with the Magi, when the orient kings meets Jesus guided by a star.
He would show their gifts of gold like a king, frankincense like God and myrrh like a man.
Currently the commercial aspect takes precedence over the religious and the quote of the Magi Day has become a pure race between parents and children, brothres or friends to make a gift.
So the question of the post, these Magi, do they need to be loaded with gifts?.
