La Calle Alhóndiga es una estrecha calle situada a medio camino entre la Plaza de la Alfalfa y la Iglesia de San Ildefonso.
Justo en el cruce con la Calle de los Boteros nos encontramos con el número 92 de dicha calle, un edificio que tiene un local comercial en la planta baja y que si nos fijamos en su segunda planta podemos ver este enigmático ser esculpido en bajorrelieve sobre la fachada.
Aunque es difícil definir su apariencia desde la estrechez de la calle, nos parece una figura grutesca, es decir, un motivo decorativo a base de algún ser fantásticos combinado con algunas plantas, flores, vegetales o animales.
El grutesco es un tema asociado al Renacimiento y suele estar formado, en su parte superior, por una cabeza o torso humano con adornos de animales y con detalles vegetales por abajo.
En nuestro Alcázar tenemos un buen ejemplo de esta decoración en el muro del Estanque de Mercurio que realizó Vermondo Resta.

The Alhondiga Street is a narrow street placed to half a way between the Alfalfa Square and San Ildefonso's Church.
Just in the crossing with the Boteros Street we look the number 92 of the above mentioned street, a building that has a business premises in the ground floor and that if we look the second floor we can see this enigmatic image sculpt in bas-relief on the front wall.
Though it is a difficult explain its appearance from the narrowness of the street, it looks like to us a grotesque figure, that is to say, a decorative motive based on some fantastic characters combined with some plants, flowers, vegetables or animals.
The grotesque one is a topic associated with the Renaissance and is in the habit of character formed, in its top part, by a head or human torso with adornments of animals and by vegetable details for below.
In our Alcazar we have a good example of this decoration in the wall of the Reservoir of Mercury that Vermondo Resta realized.
