La Virgen del Carmen.

Son múltiples las muestras de afecto y veneración de la ciudad de Sevilla a la Virgen del Carmen, patrona de los marineros.
Ayer sin ir más lejos la Hermandad del Carmen de Calatrava sacó a su imagen de la Virgen de la capilla en la Alameda de Hércules para procesionar por la aguas del Guadalquivir.
Pero, sin duda, la virgen del carmen más conocida de nuestra ciudad está ubicada en una pequeña capilla que lleva su nombre, "la Capillita del Carmen" situada en el barrio de Triana junto al puente de Isabel II.
La capilla, diseñada por Aníbal González, es sede de la Hermandad de gloria, fundada en 1928, de la Virgen del Carmen, de hecho resguarda un cuadro de esta Virgen (patrona de los marineros), donde aparece con el Niño Jesús, siendo una obra anónima del siglo XVIII. 
Esta pintura procede de la Iglesia de Santa Ana, donde estuvo ubicada tras haberse encontrado en la capilla del Altozano, aunque supuesta y primeramente estuviera en el desaparecido puente de barcas.

The samples of affection and worship of the city of Seville to the Virgin of Carmen, mistress of the sailors, are great. 
Yesterday the Brotherhood of Carmen de Calatrava extracted to the image of the Virgin from the chapel in Hercules' Avenue for sailing on the Guadalquivir´s water. 
But, undoubtedly, the Virgin of Carmen more known in our city is located in a small chapel that takes her name, "the Small chapel of Carmen" placed in Triana's neighborhood close to the bridge of Isabel II.
The chapel designed by Aníbal Gonzalez, is a headquarters of the Brotherhood of glory, founded in 1928, from the Virgin of Carmen, in fact they have a picture of this Virgin (mistress of the sailors) where appears with the Child Jesus, being an anonymous work of the 18th century. 
This painting comes from the Church of Holy Ana, where it was located after having been in the chapel of the Altozano.

La farmacia de Don Aurelio.

Junto a la Calle Pagés del Corro hay una calle llamada Farmacéutico Murillo Herrera. Quizá muchos de nosotros no conozcamos la historia de esta eminencia de la farmacia sevillana pero sí podemos ubicar sus orígenes profesionales en este edificio de ladrillo, cerámica y arcos lobulados situado en la plaza del Altozano.

El Señor Enrique Murillo Herrera heredó de su padre esta farmacia y, a su vez, dio en herencia a su hijo la misma. Antes procuró remodelar el edificio al gusto de los estilos regionalistas de primeros del siglo XX.

Su hijo Aurelio Murillo Casas (que también tiene dado el nombre a una plaza junto a la calle de su padre) puso su nombre en la fachada.

Actualmente está regentada por una hija de éste, Doña María Luisa.

Close to the  Pagés del Corro Street there is a street called "Farmaceutico Murillo Herrera". Probably many of us let's not know the history of this eminence of the Sevillian drugstore but we can locate his professional origins in this building built in brick and ceramics placed in the Altozano Square.

The Gentleman Enrique Murillo Herrera inherited from his father this drugstore and, in turn, he gave the same one in inheritance to his son. Before the building tried to remodel to the taste of the architectural regionalists styles from first of the 20th century.

His son Aurelio Murillo Casas put his name in the front.  Nowadays it is managed by a daughter of this one, Mrs. Maria Luisa.

Monumento al flamenco.

En una de las plazas más emblemáticas de Sevilla y centro social y cultural de un barrio que ha dado tantos artistas del flamenco como es la plaza del Altozano, podemos ver este voluptuoso monumento.
Es el propio barrio quien se lo dedica a tan antiguo arte, de  hecho, en la base del monumento podemos leer una placa que dice "Triana al arte flamenco".
El artista Jesús Gavira Alba lo diseño en 1994 y en él podemos distinguir a una guapa señora vestida con su traje flamenco, acompañada de su guitarra y cuyo pie derecho está apoyada sobre un yunque, alegorías todas de las tres ramas artísticas del flamenco: el baile, el toque (guitarra) y el cante.

In one of the most emblematic squares of Seville and community and cultural center of a neighborhood that has given so many artists to the Flamenco like is the Altozano square, we can see this voluptuous monument.
It is the neighborhood who presents it to so former art, in fact, in the base of the monument we can read a plate that says "Triana  to the Flamenco art".
The artist Jesus Gavira Alba design it in 1994 and in it we can distinguish a handsome lady dressed in hrs Flamenco suit, accompanied of her guitar and whose right foot is supported on an anvil, allegories all of three artistic branches of the Flamenco: the dance, the music (guitar) and sing.

El altar de la Capillita del Carmen.

La Capillita del Carmen, como todos sabemos, es una pequeña capilla situada en el barrio de Triana junto al nacimiento del Puente de Isabel II.
Es muy pequeña, tanto que no creo que su superficie supere los siete u ocho metros cuadrados. Hay una puerta de cristal a través de la que se puede ver todo el interior.
En esta foto podemos ver la parte baja del altar dedicado a la Virgen del Carmen en el que tenemos a dos ángeles sosteniendo al escudo de Sevilla con el Rey San Fernando, San Isidoro y San Leandro.
La Capillita fue construida en ladrillo y las partes embellecidas, en cerámica de Triana.

Fue diseñado por Anibal González y la cerámica fue obra de Emilio García García.

The Virgin Carmen Small Chapel is a small chapel placed in Triana's neighborhood close to the birth of the Bridge of Isabel II.

It is very small, so much that I do not believe that his surface overcomes seven or eight square meters. There is a crystal door across which it is possible to see the whole interior.

In this photo we can see the low part of the altar dedicated to the Virgin of Carmen in that we have to two angels supporting to the shield of Seville with the King San Fernando, Saint Isidoro and Saint Leandro.

The Small chapel was constructed in brick and the embellished parts, in Triana's ceramics.

It was designed by Anibal Gonzalez and the ceramics were an Emilio García García's work.

La reina de Triana.

En la Plaza del Altozano esquina con calle Betis, podemos ver este azulejo dedicado a la Virgen de la Esperanza de Triana, auténtica reina del barrio y a quien todo tienen especial devoción religiosa. Su imagen descansa durante todo el año en la Capilla de los Marineros de la Calle Pureza. Sale en procesión la madrugé del jueves al viernes santo.

In the Altozano Square corner to Betis Streets, we can see this blue roller dedicated to the Virgin Esperanza de Triana, the real queen of the neighborhood and to whom everypeople have special religious devotion. Her image stays all the year in the Chapel of the Sailors in the Pureza Street. In the friday night she goes out in procession.

This is the "Small Chapel" dedicated to de Virgin of Carmen. In spanish, "La Capillita del Carmen".

La Virgen del Carmen es la Virgen protectora de los marineros.

Esta capillita está situada junto al Puente de Triana y en el lugar donde durante los siglos XV, XVI, XVII y XVIII estaba situado el puerto de Sevilla en su orilla norte.

Allí iban los marineros a rezar y a pedir favores a la Virgen del Carmen.

The Virgin of Carmen is the protective Virgin of the sailors.

This small chapel is placed close to Triana's Bridge and in the place where during the XVth, XVIth, XVIIth and XVIIIth century the port of Seville was placed in the north shore.

There the sailors were going to pray and to ask the Virgin for favors.

La figura del torero.

La perspectiva de la foto nos permite encuadrar en el mismo ángulo a la estatua dedicada al torero Juan Belmonte con la pequeña capilla religiosa que hay a escasos metros, dedicada a la Virgen del Carmen.
Por medio sólo el Puente de Triana que los une y los separa a la misma vez.

The perspective of the photo allows us to fit, in the same angle, to the statue dedicated to the bullfighter Juan belmonte with the small religious chapel that exists to scanty meters, dedicated to the Virgin of Carmen.

In the middle it is only the Triana's Bridge that joins and separates them to the same time.

Entrando en Triana.

Una vez que hemos cruzado el Puente de Triana, nos adentramos en el barrio del mismo nombre. Esta es la plaza del Altozano, donde confluyen las calles San Jacinto, Betis, San Jorge y Pureza.
Normalmente, es una zona muy concurrida y el trasiego de personas por esta zona es muy alto.
Es un lugar privilegiado en Sevilla porque desde las ventanas de estos edificios puede observarse en primera fila la Semana Santa de la ciudad.

As soon as we have crossed Triana's Bridge, we enter the neighborhood of the same name. This one is the square of Altozano, where the streets come together San Jacinto, Betis, San Jorge and Purity.
Normally, it is a very crowded zone and the people's decanting for this zone is very high. It is a place favoured in Seville because from the windows of these buildings, you can observe, in the first row, the Holy Week of the city.
