El Monumento a la Raza.

En el acceso al Parque de María Luisa, junto a la Glorieta de San Diego podemos ver este pequeño monumento que se instauró en 1929 con motivo de la Exposición Iberoamericana que se celebró en nuestra ciudad.
Su autor fue Santiago Martínez y fue dedicado a "la Raza", entendida raza como una historia común entre los españoles los naturales de los países hispano hablantes.
El monumento tiene dos caras, en una de ellas se cita "al inmortal cantor de la raza" refieriéndose a Rubén Darío, un poeta nicaragüense que glosó unos versos que están expuestos en la otra cara del monumento. Allí se dice:

Ínclitas razas ubérrimas,

sangre de Hispania fecunda,

espíritus fraternos,

luminosas almas, ¡salve!.

In the access to Maria Luisa's Park, close to San Diego'sroundabout we can see this small monument that was made in 1929 on the occasion of the Latin-American Exhibition that was celebrated in our city.
His author was Santiago Martínez and was dedicated to "the Race", understood "race" as a common history between the Spanish and the natives of the countries Hispanic speaking.
The monument has two faces, one of them says "to the immortal singer of the race", in honour of Rubén Darío, a Nicaraguan poet who annotated a few verses that are wroten in another face of the monument. There it is said:

Illustrious exceptionally fertile race, 

blood of Hispania fertilized, 

fraternal spirits, 

luminous souls, save!.
