El moderno edificio del Banco de España en Sevilla se construyó en el año 1928, aprovechando los nuevos vientos constructivos que en nuestra ciudad existían con la futura Exposición Iberoamericana del año siguiente.
El edificio fue obra del arquitecto Antonio Illanes del Río que, en ese momento estaba afincado en Madrid pero era Sevillano de la vecina localidad de Umbrete.
Destaca en él su hermosa puerta sobre la que se situó este inmenso escudo representativo de la monarquía española en aquellos entonces.
Tuvimos la suerte de que esta fachada no fuese reformada pues poco después cambió el régimen monárquico a republicano y éste a dictatorial.
Ochenta y tres años después, la fachada persiste tal como se diseñó.

The modern building of the Bank of Spain in Seville was constructed in the year 1928, taking advantage of the new constructive winds that in our city existed with the future Latin-American Exhibition of the following year.
The building was a work of the architect Antonio Illanes del Rio that, in this moment it was living in Madrid but he was born in Sevillian neighboring locality of Umbrete .
There is a beautiful door, over it is placed this immense representative shield of the Spanish monarchy in those times.
We were lucky of that this front was not reformed because so little later it changed the monarchic regime to republican and this one to dictatorially.
Eighty three years later, the front persists as it was designed.
