Los muros del Patio del Padrenuestro.

Después de una semana larga expuesto a las veleidades del arte con letras mayúsculas en las calles de nuestra ciudad, después de empaparnos de imágenes y pasos desde el románico hasta las más novedosas líneas del neogótico o el neobarroco, vamos a enfrentarnos a la realidad del arte contemporáneo que no dudo que será arte pero que yo, personalmente, lo entiendo poco.
En el Monasterio de la Cartuja, en el patio llamado del Padrenuestro existen cuatro muros que lo delimitan. En dos de ellos existen dos murales que fueron realizados por la artista neoyorkina Jéssica Diamond en 1988 (el de arriba) y 1988 (el de abajo).
Al parecer, Jessica Diamond es conocida por sus irónicos e incisivos textos pintados directamente sobre la pared. La sensibilidad de esta artista norteamericana fue forjada en los años ochenta. Desde entonces mantiene un sorprendente sentido de la identidad, utilizando el lenguaje como base de su trabajo, caracterizándose por su actitud crítica y satírica hacia la simbología de la cultura popular. Para expresarse, emplea de forma habitual la pintura mural, situándose por ello fuera del mercado del arte.
El primero de los dos murales tiene un título muy sugestivo, "Money having sex", o sea, "El dinero teniendo sexo".
El segundo se titula "Is that all There is?", "¿Es eso todo lo que hay?.
Lo dicho, quien lo entienda que me lo explique.

After a long week exposed to the inconstancies of the "ART with capital letters" in the streets of our city, after soaking in images and steps from the Romanesque time up to the most new lines of the gothic or the baroque revival, we are going to know the reality of the contemporary art that I do not doubt that it will be art but that I, personally, don´t understand it.
In the Monastery of the Carthusian Fathers, in the so called court of Pater Noster exist four walls that delimit it.
In two of them there are two murals that were realized by the New Yorker artist, Jéssica Diamond, in 1988 (above) and 1988 (below).
Apparently, Jessica Diamond is known by her ironic and incisive texts painted directly on the wall. The sensibility of this North American artist was forged in the eighties. Since then she supports a surprising sense of the identity, using the language as base of her work, being characterized by her critical and satirical attitude towards the simbology of the popular culture.
To express, she uses the wall painting, placing for it out of the market of the art.
The first one of both murals has a very suggestive title, "Money having sex".
The second one is entitled "Is that all There is?".
