Villegas y Marmolejo (Don Pedro) aparte de ser una calle de del barrio de Nervión, es el nombre de uno de los más afamados y prolíficos pintores sevillanos del Renacimiento de mediados y finales del siglo XVI.
En la Iglesia de San Lorenzo de Sevilla, además de recibir sepultura tras su muerte, dejó algunos cuadros de verdadero valor, entre ellos esta "Anunciación" realizada en 1593.
La "Anunciación" está a la derecha del altar y bajo el lienzo hay un texto donde se especifica que este retablo y capilla fueron donado por Doña Elvira Marín para su entierro pero está fechada en 1352 con lo que se puede deducir que no tienen relación ambos elementos.
