El nivel del río.

Junto al Puente de Triana, en la orilla que da a la Calle Betis, podemos ver esta cabeza de león sobre el muro. Cuando no existían métodos tan avanzados como los actuales para medir las crecidas del agua del río, los trianeros colocaron esta estatua en el punto exacto donde la crecida podía ocasionar problemas a los vecinos del barrio.
De esta manera, los trianeros sabían que, si el agua sobrepasaba a la cabeza del león, la inundación estaba asegurada.

Next to Triana's Bridge, in the shore that is on the Betis Street, we can see this head of lion on the wall. When there weren´t methods so advanced as the current to measure the rises of the water of the river, the triana´s people placed this statue in the exact point where the rise could cause problems to the neighbors.
Hereby, the people knew that if the water was exceeding at the head of the lion, the flood was insured.
