En la Plaza de los Venerables, a cierta altura y tapado, o casi tapado por las hojas de un frondoso naranjo, tenemos un retablo cerámico ejemplo para todas las generaciones.
El retablo se titula "Santa Ana enseñando a leer a la Virgen". Es muy posible que esta estampa familiar, filial y educativa no tuviera lugar en la realidad pues, por aquellos entonces, muy pocos tenían posibilidad de aprender a leer y escribir.
Se desconoce quién fue el autor de dicho retablo aunque hay indicios de que lo hiciera Manuel Vigil-Escalera allá por la década de 1920.
In Venerable Square, covered, or almost covered by the leaves of a leafy orange tree, we have a ceramic altarpiece example for all the generations.
The altarpiece is entitled "Holy Ana teaching to read the Virgin". It is very possible that this familiar, affiliated and educational print did not take place in the reality so, for those then, very few people had possibility to learn to read and write.
We don´t known who was the author of the above mentioned altarpiece though there are indications that Manuel Vigil-Escalera was doing it as far back as the decade of 1920.
