These last days, in the Sevillian press the restoration of one of the icons of the 1992 Universal Exhibition celebrated in our city has been very commented : the mural wall " Verb America " realized by the Chilean Roberto Matta, the last surrealistic artist.
After the mentioned year, the zone suffered an abandon continued for many years and the mural wall was not less. The ceramic pieces were disappearing with the past of time.
Nevertheless, the Management of Urbanism of the Town hall decided in 2010 to attack this restoration. In these days it was concluded with the result that we can see in these photos.

The painter ceramist Antonio Hermosilla has been the manager of re-putting the ceramics pieces making always clear which pieces were original and which again mold. For this he has used the same technology of dry rope that, in that day, used the ceramist Yoko Akabane for Matta's order.
The result is completed by the grafitter Sedeka that has given it the final touch with his sprays.

  4. This restoration must have been a complicated project. I googled Matta and see that this mural is more whimsical than many of his works from this period. I hope it is embraced by the local community and protected from additional damage. It's charm and complexity make it quite engaging. Thanks for contributing to Monday Mural.
