En el interior de la valla de ladrillo que circunda al antiguo Pabellón de Chile de la Exposición Iberoamericana de 1929 y que hoy es la Escuela de Artes Aplicadas, podemos ver este emotivo tributo a uno de los profesores de dicha escuela, el pintor Virgilio Mattoni de la Fuente.
El profesor Mattoni nació en Sevilla en 1842 y perteneció a la escuela Sevillana de pintura de finales del siglo XIX.
Ganador varias veces medallas en la Exposición Nacional de Bellas Artes, dedicó su vida a la enseñanza de las nuevas generaciones apostando por las maneras y líneas del modernismo.
Fallecido en 1923, la Escuela de Bellas Artes le dedicó este recuerdo a su memoria.

Inside the fence that surrounds to the Chile´s Pavilion in the 1929 Latin-American Exhibition and that today it is the Applied Arts School, we can see this emotive tax to one of the teachers of the school, the painter Virgilio Mattoni de la Fuente.
The teacher Mattoni was born in Seville in 1842 and belonged to the Sevillian school of painting of the end of the 19th century.
Winning several times medals in the National Exhibition of Fine arts, he dedicated his life to the education of the new generations betting for the ways and lines of the modernism.
Deceased in 1923, the Art school dedicated this marble stone wall to his memory.
