With the images of the Christ and the Virgin, the Nazarenes is the principal stars of every procession. Nazarenes only can be the participant of every Fraternity, who go in row of two carrying, generally, a big candle or some emblem of the Fraternity.
Every Fraternity dresses their Nazarenes in a few certain colors. There are blacks, white, purple nazarenes, that are the most common colors. But some of them combine these colors with red, blue or beiges.

One of the important figures of a procession is the penitent.
The penitent differs for several characteristics. First of all, he takes a cross of wood on his shoulders. After, the fabric of his hood is not in vertical but fallen on the back. And finally, his position in the procession is behind of the image of the Christ or of the Virgin. They are called penitents because they want " to punish his faults", " to be grateful for some divine intervention " or " to ask for a divine grace for someone ".

Most of the people come to the Holy Week of Seville to see it along the streets of the historical city. Nevertheless, it exists another much calmer and direct form for seeing it: the chairs and the street vip boxes.
All the Fraternities of the Holy Week have to do an obligatory tour: it is the so called " Official Race ". At the both sides of this obligatory route, the City Council puts on chairs in order that the Sevillian ones rent them. The right of rent on a chair for the people ends when the person dies or allows renting it.

One of the most traditional ways of living the Holy Week is to visit the churches from where processions have to go out.
There we can see the sculptures without people's agglomerations.
In this case, we see the sculpture of Jesus of the Capture, in the moment when Judas betrays Jesus in the Mount of the Olive trees to the Romans.
This image could be seen in San Andres's Chapel.
In the image of below we see some of the typical emblems and apparels that participants will carry in the procession.

The Holy Wednesday goes out the procession of the Fraternity of The Thirst.
This one is the image of the Virgin of the Consolation who is accompanying the Christ of the Thirst.
Where the Virgin it is placed is called " Paso de Palio", thank you to the name of the cloth that covers the roof of the place. The goldwork is of silver and the mantle belongs to the Virgin is of velvet embroidered in gold.

With the arrival of the Holy Week, the city suffers a complete transformation. The center of Seville and many of its neighborhoods adorn themselves to put in the street all the religious fervor.
The Fraternity, so is called the different field congregations around a parish or an image of Jesus or the certain Virgin, go out in procession towards the Holy Cathedral.
When they have expired with their obligation, the nazarenes and penitents accompany to their religious images up to the own temple.
In the image that I you bring today, we can observe the "Christ de la Sangre", of San Benito's Fraternity. This Fraternity was founded in the 16th century. The image of the Christ is from 1966. This one is accompanied of 1700 Nazarenes dressed in white.
