La Virgen de la Inmaculada.

En la Iglesia de San Antonio Abad está la sede de la Hermandad de "El Silencio", una de las hermandades más emblemáticas que procesionan por la Semana Santa de Sevilla y una de las más antiguas.
En una de las dos naves que forman la iglesia, en concreto la que tiene la entrada por la Calle Alfonso XII, hay una hornacida con la imagen de la Virgen de la Inmaculada Concepción.
Y esto tiene su historia.
El 29 de Septiembre de 1615, por iniciativa del Hermano Mayor Tomás Pérez, la Hermandad de "El Silencio" hizo solemne Voto y Juramento de creer, proclamar y defender, hasta derramar su sangre si fuere preciso, que la Virgen María fue concebida sin pecado original.
Fue la primera Hermandad en hacer este Voto y Juramento.
La imagen que vemos es obra del escultor Sebastián Santos Rojas y fue realizada en 1954 para sustituir a otra imagen de la Virgen ya muy deteriorada.

It was the first Brotherhood in doing this Vote and Oath.
The image that we see is a work of the sculptor Sebastián Santos Rojas and it was realized in 1954 to substitute another just very damaged image of the Virgin.
