La primera vuelta al mundo.

Hace días pudimos ver una imagen de esta conocida glorieta de Sevilla, llamada "de los marineros voluntarios", en honor a una epopeya marítima realizada por Juan Sebastián Elcano quien dio la primera vuelta al mundo. Con él partieron 250 marineros e los que regresaron vivos sólo 18. Y un sólo barco, la Nao Victoria, la primera nave que circunvaló la tierra..
Este monumento está dividido en tres partes: un gran estanque con surtidores, un mural donde en huecorelieve hay un mapamundi y una estatua del conquistador y navegante que confirmó la redondez de la Tierra.
En su lado derecho hay una columna con cuatro pisos de bajorelieves, con personajes del épico viaje que circunvalaron la tierra (sacerdotes, marineros, indigenas, soldados).

Days ago we could see an image of this known place of Seville, call "Round of the sailors", in honor to the maritime epic realized by Juan Sebastián Elcano who did the first round-the-world trip. With him, 250 sailors go out and returned alive only 18. And one only ship, the Vessel Victory.
This monument is divided in three parts: a great reservoir with spouts, a mural where there is a map and a statue of the conqueror and navigator who confirmed the roundness of the Earth.
In his right side there is a column with four levels, with prominent figures of the epic trip that go around the land (priests, sailors, aborigens, soldiers).

La Plaza de Doña Teresa Enríquez.

Junto a la Iglesia de San Vicente hay una plaza muy coqueta que lleva el nombre de Plaza de Doña Teresa Enríquez. Y quién es esta mujer, se preguntarán ustedes. Pues les voy a contar su historia.

Hemos oído hablar de hermandades sacramentales y cultos eucaristicos, pues bien, de todo esto tiene la culpa una buena señora que se dejo vida y hacienda en fundar, no solo en Sevilla, sino en toda España, hermandades sacramentales por doquier. Esta buena persona se llamaba Teresa Enriquez.

Doña Teresa Enriquez era prima del rey Fernando V de Aragon. 

Enviuda en 1503 y se marcha a su tierra de Torrijos donde funda la Colegiata del Santisimo Sacramento de dicha localidad.

No contenta con ello pone todo su esfuerzo y fortuna en el fomento del culto eucaristico. Tras una serie de abatares y, utilizando su parentesco real, consigue del Papa Julio II una bula "Pastoris Aeternis" por la cual le otorgaba poderes para fundar cofradias sacramentales bajo su patrocinio otorgando todo tipo de indultos, por todo el reino de España.

Doña Teresa Enriquez llega a Sevilla dentro del séquito de su primo el Rey Catolico Fernando, que por entonces venia con su segunda esposa Germana de Foix, y dispuso, a su costa, la fundación de hermandades sacramentales. 

Asi aparece como fundadora y primera hermana de la hermandades sacramentales mas antiguas de Sevilla como las Sacramentales de San Salvador, San Lorenzo, del Sagrario, de San Vicente, San Gil Abad, Magdalena, Santa Ana, Santiago el Mayor o San Isidoro.

Estamos hablando de la mitad del siglo XVI y primero años del siglo XVII. 

Por su afán en revitalizar el culto eurcarítico, el Papa Julio II la llamaba "la loca del Sacramento".

Next to San Vicente's Church there is a very flirtatious square that takes the name of Dona Teresa Enríquez's Square. And who is this woman, you will wonder. Since I am going to tell them her history.

We have heard speaking about sacramental fraternity and Eucharistic worships, well then, of all that a good lady has the fault that dedicated he r life and estate in founding, not only in Seville, but in the whole Spain, sacramental fraternity everywhere. This good person was called Teresa Enriquez.

Miss Teresa Enriquez was a cousin of the king Fernando V of Aragon. She was widowed in 1503 and leaves to hes land of Torrijos where founds the Collegiate church of the Santisimo Sacramento of the above mentioned locality.

She is not satisfy with it and puts all her effort and fortune in the promotion of the Eucharistic worship. After a series of facts obtained, from the Pope Julio II a bulla "Pastoris Aeternis" for which she was granting power to found sacramental confraternities under her sponsorship granting all kinds of pardons, for the whole kingdom of Spain.

Miss Teresa Enriquez comes to Seville inside the retinue of his cousin the King Fernando, and she arranged the foundation of sacramental fraternities. This way she appears as founder and the first sister of sacramental fraternity ancient of Seville as the Sacramental of St. Salvador, The St Lawrence, of the Sacrarium, St. Vicente, St. Gil Abad, Magdalena, St. Ana, James the Mayor or St. Isidoro.

We are speaking about the half of the 16th century and first years about the 17th century. The Pope Julio II was calling her "The mad woman of the Sacramento".

La Semana Santa al revés.

El primer día de Semana Santa, el Domingo de Ramos, procesiona la Hermandad de la Sagrada entrada en Jerusalem, más conocida popularmente por la Hermandad de la Borriquita.

El Cristo de la Sed procesiona el miércoles santo. Aqui le vemos camino de su templo bajo la luz de sus faroles.

El más visitado.

Es una costumbre entre los sevillanos visitar los templos durante la Semana Santa para ver allí las imágenes religiosas antes de hacer su estación de penitencia.
Esta es la imagen del Cristo del Gran Poder, quizá la imagen más visitada durante esta semana y durante todo el año.

It is a custom that the Sevillian people visits the temples during the Holy Week to see there the religious images before doing his penance station.
This one is the image of the Christ of the Great Power, probably the image most visited during this week and during the whole year.

El Cristo de Burgos.

La Iglesia de San Pedro es la sede religiosa de la Hermandad del Cristo de Burgos. Aquí podemos ver su imagen tomada en el interior del templo antes de salir a las calles de Sevilla. Junto a su imagen podemos ver también a la Madre de Dios de la Palma.

San's Pedro Church is the religious sedate of the Brotherhood of the Christ of Burgos. Here we can see his image taken it inside the temple before going out to the streets of Seville. Close to his image we can see also the Mother of God of the Palm.

La Candelaria.

En la noche del Martes Santo vimos a la Hermandad de la Candelaria por las calles de Sevilla. La Virgen, arropada por el pueblo, discurre por la Calle Orfila con su candelería encendida. El Cristo de la Salud, paso a paso, continua su camino cargando su pesada cruz.

In the night of the Holy Tuesday we saw to the Brotherhood of the Candelaria in the streets of Seville. The Virgin, loved by her people, passes for the Orfila Street with her flushed canddles. The Christ of the Health, stepwise, continues his way loading his heavy cross.
