Los rótulos de los mercaderes.

Como hemos dicho en estos días anteriores, el Rey Felipe II dio orden de construir un edifico para albergar la Casa Lonja de Mercaderes, un lugar donde los comerciantes pudieran tratar sobre las mercancías que venían de América.
Ocurrió, sin embargo, que este edificio se construyó en un periodo muy largo de tiempo (en 1572 se acordó la edificación, en 1646 se terminó), periodo que supuso una ruptura del comercio indiano con Sevilla, trasladándose a Cádiz el grueso de dicha actividad.
Finalizado el edificio, muchas dependencias quedaron libres e inoperativas, con lo que, los mismos comerciantes sevillanos decidieron utilizarlas para poner allí sus negocios.
Entonces, las puertas de acceso al edificio eran diez y estaban totalmente abiertas con lo que se conseguía un tránsito de clientes muy interesante.
Tras las últimas recientes restauraciones, afloraron determinados rótulos en las fachadas. Los historiadores dicen que estos rótulos eran los nombres de los comercios que ocupaban dicha estancia en el edificio.

As we have wroten in these previous days, the King Philip II gave order to construct one building to shelter the House Strap´s Merchants, a place where the merchants could treat on the goods that they were coming from America.
It happened, nevertheless, that this building was constructed in a very long period of time (in 1572 was reminded the building, in 1646 it was finished), period that supposed a break of the Indian trade with Seville, moving to Cadiz the thickness of the above mentioned activity.
Finished the building, many dependences remained free and unoperative, with what, the same Sevillian merchants decided to use them to put there their business.
Then, the doors of access to the building were ten and were totally opened with what they obtained a very interesting customer's traffic.
After the last recent restorations, certain publicity labels showed in the front walls. The historians say that these labels were the names of the trades that were occupying the above mentioned stay in the building.
