El Puente Isabel II o Puente de Triana, como popularmente se le conoce, es un buen ejemplo de la tendencia de los arquitectos del siglo XIX de construir con hierro y otros metales.
Aunque tiene tres arcos, éstos, en la actualidad y tras una profunda reforma, son meramente decorativos y no tienen función sostenedora.
Este puente sustituyó al transbordo de barcas que estaba instituído desde principios del segundo milenio.
